3 Element Delta Loop Hi-Gain (Heavy Duty) – 11m

3 Element Delta Loop Hi-Gain (Heavy Duty) - 11m

A 3 Element Hi-Gain Delta Loop Antenna for the 11m (27Mhz) band.

£415.00 — £480.00

Product Code – 11M3WWHEAVY

A 3 element high gain Delta Loop for the 11m band from our ‘Heavy Duty’ range. Manufactured from lightweight but extremely strong construction grade 6082-T6 stock with a h/duty dual section boom.

In the center boom section we use a 60mm x 60mm x 4mm wall section of 6082-T6 stock which forms the main support piece. On the ends, a 50 x 50mm x 10SWG (3.2mm wall) square box is used to support the reflector and the director element.

As standard the antenna includes 6.35mm Diameter Wide Plate Element Brackets and H/Duty Polyamide Element Clamps, complete with M10 Stainless Hardware. Antenna is supplied with all hardware except boom to mast mount (see below). Normally hi-gain antennas have a limited bandwidth, however modelling for this antenna has produced a design with approx 1MHz 2 to 1 SWR bandwidth figures.

The top wires on each loop are manufactured from copper-clad steel (in essence copper coated stainless steel) which is extremely strong and robust. The breaking strain of this alone is over 250kgs. This wire is the secured using marine-grade (316 stainless) hardware and Vortex’s unique “Cable Strain Relief Mechanism” which pretty well eliminates a top-wire failure. Download our TOP-WIRE info sheet. The antenna is supplied with all hardware except boom to mast mount (see below).

VORTEX BOOM TO MAST PLATES
All VORTEX Antennas can be shipped WITHOUT any boom to mast mounting plates. Select this option from the drop-down menu when purchasing. Other options include the choice of mounting plates and complete mounting solutions with U-Bolts and Brackets.

5 Element long boom Yagi or 3 element Delta Loop.
Over the summer of 2018, Vortex has had feedback from two veteran DX’ers.

Andy (26CT000) and Ian 26IR244 have both being trying out Vortex 3 Element Delta Loops.
Both ops have had long boom 26 foot plus Yagis in the past and now report the following after using the 14.5 foot boom Delta Loops. We think after reading this, you’d never look back and the Delta would be the immediate choice.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the email I find it fascinating that 2 antenna’s of the same gain can behave in such different manner??

I am certain that the 3 element Delta is out-performing the 5 element Yagi. I am hearing UK stations on backscatter that never happened on all the Yagi’s I have had here I am getting into stations 1st call far more often than was the case on the Yagi and I am the one spotting stations before others when the band opens.

I was working stateside at 10 past 12 today so very early in the states and even though I spotted guys they had no more takers and it was another 30 minutes or so before I heard other UK guys working them.

Granted, big guns like you Geoff and Mike were not on the band lucky for me and you 3 are the only ones that put me to shame every day in all conditions to all directions !!! otherwise I can compete pretty well from a poor location.

I worked 12 stateside guys ranging from Avanti Moonraker 4’s they were the 2 strongest on the band and most of the others 100w and A99 Verticals so it was good conditions.

I have been speaking to my mate Jim M0HDX tonight and He agreed that the Delta loop and quad have something that the flat Yagi does not. He had the 2 ele 5 band quad for years and it worked amazing. He now has a 4 ele 6-20dx Ultrabeam at 75ft in a dream location I am sure you hear how well He works.

He agreed that since putting up the Yagi He hears far less UK guys backscatter and the first and last guys he hears from the states are on Quads or Delta loops ?? so something happening but who knows what ??

Anyway I am very happy with the 3 ele Delta loop please feel free to use My callsign on a review for your antenna it’s build quality is 2nd to none and works astounding it’s the 3 ele Delta loop heavy duty Hi Gain version wouldn’t swap it unless for a bigger one ???

2017 – 26CT000 operating conditions
5 element long-boom Yagi (26 foot boom) with 400-500w at 70 foot
Receive station was receiving them at S7-9 on a 6 element 10/11m OWA Yagi at 60 feet

2018 – 26CT000 operating conditions (same spot)
3 element Vortex Delta Loop (14.5 foot boom) with 400-500w at 35 foot
Receive station was receiving them at S9/+10 to 15db on a 6 element 10/11m OWA Yagi at 60 feet
Op reported far better than 2017 and with 100% better back and sidescatter plus DX was easier to work.
