Following on from our very successful 5 element ‘Competition Class’ Delta Loop, Vortex now have expanded our heavy duty 10 and 11m Delta Loops to include 6 elements within the range, Our new F5 Tornado Delta is a formidable antenna, with a boom length of just under 39 feet (11.6m) there is little to compete against it. We have seen in the past various 7, 8, 9 and even 10 element antennas on boom lengths of disproportionate sizes that poor weather and mediocre construction will just destroy in hours. Here at Vortex we take a different approach in that actually reducing the number of elements but keeping an over than average boom length, gives overall better gain, pattern and bandwidth. We saw from the build of our first 5 Element ‘Competition Class’ antenna, that 5 elements on a 31 foot boom produced an exceptional system. We have applied the same design and modelling criteria to the 6 element version and following build and analysis the results are equally good. All Vortex F5 Tornado Loops use multiple field strength measurements and a VNA analysis on a fully built system – so you get a ‘Real-World’ scenario. We have built loops up to 10 elements and can say – it’s not the amount of elements but the boom length and the optimisation that counts.

This 6 element is manufactured from lightweight but extremely strong construction grade 6082-T6 Aluminium stock with a super heavy duty boom. The antenna includes 6.35mm wide section plate element brackets to compliment 4 sections of aluminium tubes used in the vertical sections of the elements. Heavy Duty Polyamide Element Clamps, complete with M10 Stainless Hardware are supplied as standard. We can include additional horizontal element supports using 8mm stainless bars for extreme weather environments.

Large antennas such as this model also come complete with an additional ‘T-Bar’ horizontal strut/support. This support is used to reduce boom sag and anchors the boom in six (6) locations, 2 at the front and 2 at the rear and 2 in the center. By using six support points (rather than two) – also reduces the sideways movement of the boom. For our guying line we use ‘Mastrant-P’ 4mm synthetic guy line which is rated at 400kgs. To compliment the setup, S3i 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel Eyebolts, Turnbuckles and Hardware finish the project. The antenna is supplied with all hardware except boom to mast mount (see below).

This antenna is only available as ‘Super HD” because of the boom length. The images show our first prototype, but we have changed the boom joiners. Now our booms have interlocking ‘Slide-In’ sections with M12 Stainless Allen Heads Bolts to secure. This Super Heavy Duty version includes a 3″ (76.2mm) x 1/4″ (6.35mm) wall center boom section and 2 outer sections of 2.5″ (63.5mm) x 3/16ths (4.76mm) wall. The price also includes our Plate ‘D’ (10mm) mounting plate and full stainless hardware to fit either a 2 inch or 2.5 inch stub mast.

VORTEX PLATE ‘D’
Is the only plate we recommend for this antenna because of its weight. Plate ‘D’ will enable you to attach the antenna to either a 2.0″ (50.8mm) or 2.5″ (63.5mm) mast.
A full stainless mounting kit and plate ‘D’  is included within the price of this antenna.
